Who are we and what is the Nature Knowledge Workshop?

The Nature Knowledge Workshop is organized by group of professionals and volunteers who are dedicated to sharing what they know about nature and the outdoors. We feel that by taking you outside and showing you the intricacies and details of what you can find in your own backyard will give you a better appreciation for nature and your personal role in conserving and protecting it.

We're very relaxed in our approach. We gather once a year at the Sierra Club's Foster Lodge and take you on short and easy walks through the forest, chaparral, and meadows of the Laguna Mountains. All the while, we stop to talk and point out the interesting things around us. Our experts will teach you about flowers, plants, trees, and the creatures that inhabit them. We hold workshops and presentations on plants and animals, astronomy, geology, Native American culture, conservation projects and more.

We are passionate and enjoy doing what we do. We hope that after spending the weekend with us, our passion and pleasure for nature rubs off on to you so that you go back home with a better understanding and appreciation of our planet and its life.

We've been doing this for over 30 years and have had thousands of folks share the experience of the Nature Knowledge Workshop. Many of them come back year after year. We hope that you will too.
